Bubbling Cauldrons

A quick and fun experiment in time for Halloween!

You really only need 3 to 4 items for this experiment.

  1. Mini caulron (we found ours at the dollar store).

  2. Baking soda

  3. Vinegar

  4. Food dye(optional)


Start with your cauldron and add baking soda. I do not have exact measurements as our cauldrons aren't super small but not big either. I basically had my kids dump in enough baking soda to cover about one fourth of the cauldron.

I poured about 6oz of vinegar in another cup. Again we did not exactly measure, we have these 8oz cups and I had the kids fill them about three fourths full. Then I had them add the food dye to the vinegar and mix it together.


Last, let them pour the vinegar into the cauldron and watch how it reacts! And you can always add more vinegar if needed.
