Usually, my children eat the school lunches, but occasionally they want to pack their own. Some easy items they have packed that do not need heating are;
Sandwiches; the classical sandwich. Whether meat and cheese or peanut butter and jelly. This is something quick and easy that they can help you with! For a twist on this, you can use a tortilla and make a wrap. Or roll it with the bread and slice it up to make a sandwich swirl.
Fruit; honestly, I usually buy the fruit cups already prepacked, but sometimes they want more variety. I don’t blame them! The favorite for my children are strawberries, grapes, and blueberries. I make these into kebabs because I think why not.
Vegetables; They would prefer I didn’t add these, but there are a few vegetables they will eat—mainly carrots and broccoli. So I do throw in a little bit of vegetable dip for them.
Drink; they get to pick from a juice box or water. If they choose water, I do have those flavor packets that they can choose to add if they want to.
Extra treat; Sometimes they get something like a pack of gummies, and other times I throw in like a rice Krispie treat or a cookie.
Honestly, there is no need to go all out for their lunch, and I say that not to be mean, but you usually also go all out for their dinner. Simple and quick lunches will also help take some stress off of yourself.
