Books develop and nourish kids’ imaginations, expanding their worlds. Picture books introduce young children to the world of art and literature. Novels and nonfiction books stimulate kids’ sensory awareness, helping kids to see, hear, taste, feel, and smell on an imagined level. Books inform our imaginations, inspiring creativity.
This Children's Book Author Spotlight Series is going to showcase independent children's book authors and their works. We strive to bring you the best there is to offer and an insight into the world of children's books!
This week we are featuring author Jonathan Marshall.

Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to write your first book.
Hi all! My name is Jon Marshall. I am a husband and father based out of the Philadelphia area. Outside of being an author, I am a former educator and currently work as an Academic Advisor for Education students at a University. My first book "I'll be right there" started as a conversation I had with my son. I know many fathers are like me and like to read to their little ones at night. I wanted to play a part in creating something for those other dads out there.
What inspired the idea for your book?
I have 2 son's who I read to every night. 2 things sparked the desire to write the book.
1. I share stories with my boys all of the time and many of the stories have become book ideas.
2. We didn't see many stories that looked like us.

What part of the book was the most fun to write?
Being able to describe the things I would go through to get to my little guy.
